Annual free Sunday movie matinee

We will be having our annual Sunday matinee screening on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 3:00pm at The Magic Lantern Theatre downtown.

We will be showing Children of Heaven, a 1997 film from Iran about a boy who loses his sister's shoes and goes on a series of adventures to try to find or replace them. I love this film, and I know you will too. The movie will start at 3:15pm and is 1h30m long.

Because these summer showings usually get a much larger turnout, there will not be an official dinner get-together after the movie. However, I will let the Saranac Public House know to expect quite a few of us afterward, and Chilis is also open that day if the Saranac is too crowded.

NOTE: The theater rental for this event is paid for by your annual membership dues, so admission is free. You will only need to pay for concessions. We will be in the large theater, which seats 100, so please invite your friends and family to join us as well.

ALSO: Because this event is on Sunday, parking downtown will be free. However, it may also be harder than usual to find a space, so I recommend you give yourselves a few extra minutes to park.
