Road ride - 100K - Coimbra <-> Figueira da Foz
Details
Hi Bike Buds! 馃毚
#FollowTheCalves 馃Φ馃徎 are exploring again! This time we're going to check out Figueira da Foz and surroundings, including Castelo de Montemor-o-Velho. It'll be a road bike ride of 100km, but with less than 500m elevation gain, so mostly flat and definitely social!
Itinerary
Sunday November 30th:
- The ride starts from Coimbra-B train station at 9:45am on Sunday November 30th.
- You can arrive by car (there's a parking lot) or by train. The direct train that you can book a bike onto departs from Lisbon Santa Apolonia at 07:30. It also stops at Lisbon Oriente en route. The hosts will be on that train. It arrives Coimbra-B at 09:38. There are also regional trains, but bike spots cannot be reserved on Regional trains and availability depends on the conductor / capacity.
- We will cycle 100km, with stops such as the Castelo, scenic viewpoints on the coast, and lunch in Figueira da Foz. Route will be shared in the event-specific whatsapp chat.
- Train back from Coimbra-B station to Lisbon (Oriente or Santa Apolonia). There are multiple options. We will discuss in the event-specific chat, depending on who is interested, who needs to be back early, or who wants to relax and maybe even have something to eat in Coimbra.
Bike
- We ride road and gravel bikes
- We advise against electric bikes - they are too heavy to carry and go too slow on the flats. They also don't fit into the bike holders on the train.
What to bring
- Breathable clothes, and maybe a light jacket for the end / or for stops. We wear ironic lycra, but that's not obligatory, just handy for pockets)
- Snacks (nuts, gels, protein balls, glucose etc. are small but helpful for tough stretches)
- Do not come without water (preferably 2 bottles) and a helmet!
- An appetite for some ice cream, an adventure and some fun!
