Weekday ride - 90K - Oriente -> Mafra -> Cascais
Details
Hi Bike Buds! ๐ด
#FollowTheCalves ๐ฆต๐ป are at it again! Normally we ride on weekends, but we're mixing it up to include as many people as possible. This weekday ride is for anyone who works weekends but has Thursdays off, any one getting the American holiday off (Thanksgiving), or just anyone else able to ride on a Thursday. We're going to check out some new scenic routes in our home area around Lisbon, stop in Mafra for lunch/snack, and then enjoy the classic route along the coast through Azenhas do Mar, past Guincho, and end in Cascais.
Itinerary
Thursday, November 27th:
- The ride starts from Oriente train station. Meet at 9:45am on Thursday, November 27th; riding by 10:00.
- You can arrive by car, train, metro, bike, etc.
- We will cycle 90-95km, with stops. ~1400m elevation.
- Route will be shared in the event-specific whatsapp chat.
- This particular ride might have a couple very short sections of hard-pack gravel that will be fine for road bikes. And cobblestones, as always!
- We should be back to Cascais around 16:00, definitely no later than 17:00 depending on how many stops.
Bike
- We ride road and gravel bikes
- We advise against electric bikes - they are too heavy to carry and go too slow on the flats. They also don't fit into the bike holders on the train.
What to bring
- Breathable clothes, and maybe a light jacket for the end / or for stops. We wear ironic lycra, but that's not obligatory, just handy for pockets)
- Snacks (nuts, gels, protein balls, glucose etc. are small but helpful for tough stretches)
- Do not come without water (preferably 2 bottles) and a helmet!
- An appetite for some ice cream, adventure, and some fun!
Cordial Calves,
Alex and Bike Buds
