Learning German is hard. Speaking German is harder!
You can take all the courses you want (and many people do) and still freeze the moment a real conversation starts. You are not alone.
Sprachmut is a community for expats in Freiburg who want to get out of their head and into real conversations. It is a space that is safe, welcoming, and actually fun. Whether you just arrived or have been here for years, if you want to actually speak, you're in the right place.
What we do. We run three types of events, every week:
🌍 Social Mondays: no language agenda, just people doing something together. Hikes, philosophy cafés, museum visits, picnics... the format changes, the good company doesn't.
🎲 German Game Nights (Tuesday): open to all levels. We play. We laugh. We speak German without overthinking it. Memory, Bingo, Tabu, Wer bin ich? ... games that trick your brain into forgetting it's supposed to be nervous.
☕ German Language Café (Wednesday): organized together with Zusammen Leben e.V. Games, conversation, and optional individual feedback from a language coach. All levels welcome.
All events are hosted and guided by native German instructors, but don't worry, no one is going to hit you with Genitiv and Dativ explanations. Unless you specifically ask. (Some people do.).

Social Monday - Sportbox Games & Drinks in Seepark
Seepark Freiburg, Hofackerstraße/ Leisnerstraße, Freiburg, DENo agenda. No schedule. Just the grass at Seepark, good people, and whatever games we feel like playing.
This is a casual hangout at Seepark. We'll grab equipment from the Seepark Sportbox, think Spikeball, Kubb (Viking Chess), frisbee, volleyball, and more, and play whatever the group is in the mood for. No skill required, no pressure to join every round. Bring some drinks or snacks to share if you like, and we'll just hang out, play, and chill together.
