What we’re about
The SQL Server Ireland User Group was founded in 2006 to foster & grow the Irish SQL Server community while providing networking opportunities & sharing experiences using the Microsoft Data Platform via free events and meetups.
This group is a local affiliated with "Azure Data Tech Groups" sponsored by Microsoft.
Meetings are held most months, usually in the evening of the first Tuesday of the month. We do collaborate with others to support larger conference events from time to time; including the highly successful SQL Saturday Dublin Event.
Over 1,000 members across DBA's, Developer's, Architects, BI Professionals and IT Pros.
we have a strict code of conduct for events and meetings which can be found here:

- Handle Azure SQL Auditing with EaseLink visible for attendees
Are you tired of not knowing who's changing what in your Azure SQL databases?
To audit Azure SQL Database, you can use the built-in functionality in the Azure portal or with Extended Events; to audit Azure SQL Managed Instance, you can use SQL Server Audit or Extended Events. With auditing, you can track changes, report on usage to auditors, or change user permissions/passwords without breaking functionality.
In this session, you will get an overview, different options available, and a demo. You will also learn how to centralize and report on your auditing data. Auditing is a key part of any proper database setup, and with this session, you can be an auditing pro in no time!
- KQL, Log Analytics, and Facts - What time is love?Link visible for attendees
For the last 4 years, I have worked extensively with telemetry on the Dynamics 365 Business Central product. All of this telemetry is stored in Azure Log Analytics, a big data store that can handle A LOT OF data.
In this session I will share my love for this technology, giving you an overview of Log Analytics and KQL, including KQL vs. SQL. I will show you use cases from Azure Monitor / Azure Application Insights as use cases of Log Analytics. I will discuss cost (and cost control strategies) of Log Analytics. And finally, I will talk a little bit about what this means in Real Time Analytics in Microsoft Fabric.
