Square Dance Ottawa Monthly Dance

It's January and time to put on our dancing shoes once again - or whatever shoes you are comfortable in! But DO plan to go dancing THIS SUNDAY - January 25 - as we kick of 2026 with our first monthly dance of the year.

Never tried Modern Square Dancing before? No problem! These dances are geared specifically to people who have never tried it but are curious to find out what it's all about. In two hours, you'll learn about 12 different square dance "calls" and I'll put them together in dances to music like Classic Rock (Bette Davis' Eyes), Top 40 Hits (Fireball), Easy Listening (The Hustle), Movie Themes (Cabaret), and so much more.

Here are some more details:

• Location: Mel Baker Hal, J. A. Dulude Arena, 941 Clyde Ave.
• Time: 2:30 - 4:30 (Please come a little early to sign in and pay. We want to START dancing at 2:30.)
• Cost: $12 per person - payment by cash, debit, credit, or eTransfer to wendygvandermeulen@gmail.com
• What to wear: Whatever you are comfortable in!! It wouldn't hurt to come with a light sweater.... The hall as a tendency to change from too-cool to too-warm at times... :-(
• Shoes: Once again, whatever you are comfortable in.
• Water: Take water with you - dancing is thirsty work!! :-)
