Dear all,

Due to bivouac and camping regulations in Austria, the next stargazing trip will take place at a campsite at Lichtenfels am Stausee https://maps.app.goo.gl/d56pyR1irYF8XywP9.

Meeting point: 18:20 at Spittelau Bahnhof in front of Ströck.
Please show up on time. We will use this time to get to know each other and make sure everyone is comfortable in the group.

Departure on the 08.08: REX4 to Krems Bahnhof, departing at 18:52;
bus 170 to Rastenfeld Bundesstrasse at 20:18;
walking to the campsite.
Return on the 09.08: Walking to Rastenfeld Bundesstrasse;
Bus 170 to Krems Bahnhof at 07:06;
REX4 to Wien at 7:52.

Tickets: ~60 Euros round-trip (without Vorteilscard).
Spot at the campsite: 12-15 Euros per person.

MANDATORY GEAR:

1. insulated sleeping pad (isomatte)
2. sleeping bag
3. bivvy bag or a tent (mounting a tent costs more on the campsite)
4. waterproof and windproof jacket
5. WARM layers of clothing
6. anti-tick and anti-insect spray
7. pants suitable for tick protection
8. closed shoes

RECOMMENDED:

1. cash (>25 Eur)
2. water
3. snacks
4. red light headlight or torchlight
5. your favourite sky-watching equipment 👀 🔭

What to expect: We will arrive at the campsite at ~9:30 pm, check in, organize ourselves, and watch the skies/chill/sleep for the rest of the night.

We expect ot catch the Perseid showers, the galactic core of the Milky Way, and a moonrise.

Since we will be outdoors, we will be at the mercy of the elements, with the temperature possibly dropping to ~10-12°C. It might be slightly uncomfortable, perhaps damp, perhaps cold. If you decide to join, please come with an open mind and readiness to tolerate some discomfort.

SAFETY AND LOGISTICS:
Safety is of utmost importance to us. Hence, people who have joined our trips before and have been in the group for longer will have priority over newcomers.

I will take a group picture before boarding the train.

Please note that we are a peer group and not tour guides. You are responsible for your own safety, well-being, tickets, and gear, while we help each other when possible.

Since stargazing is highly weather-dependent, the trip may be canceled up to 4 hours before departure, so please check then for final confirmation.
