About us
Welcome to Startup Oasis!
Startup Oasis is a BYOB hackathon community (startup founders bring in their startup to pitch, then they get a breakout room and you can then work with them like a hackathon). This community is for startup founders, developers, investors, marketers, and anyone else in the startup ecosystem that wants to start a business, help a founder, or join a business.
We meet in person and virtually on a regular basis. Each event is the same format:
We start with the introduction of the process at the beginning.
Founders sign up to pitch their businesses, then the event functions like a pitch competition - except no judges, no winners, nor lengthy feedback. The goal is to get everyone into breakout groups as soon as possible. During the pitches, the founders tell us their biggest needs. After the last pitch, the hackathon starts.
Developers, UX Designers, and others choose which startup to learn more about or join. Founders get their own breakout groups. The Devs and designers can help the founders based on their needs. You can move between groups and talk about strategies and tactics. People have been able to start a business as a result of these hackathons!

Is this event free to attend? Yes - Startup Oasis will always be free for anyone to attend. If you would like to donate, you can buy a VIP ticket here and it will be appreciated! You can also talk to us about volunteer opportunities.
Am I eligible to pitch? You must be the founder or on the leadership team of a technology-based startup to be eligible to pitch. You can be early stage (pre-funding, pre-revenue, or pre-MVP) up to series A. Consultants, firms, and agencies cannot pitch their services - please join a breakout to speak with the founders.
What happens after the pitches? The breakout groups form for the remainder of the event. Each founder gets a breakout room and you can talk with them more there about their business and needs.
Can I take photos or videos? Yes, please be respectful when doing so. You can tag Startup Oasis on LinkedIn. If you have a video or YouTube show, you are welcome to interview founders and attendees.

We are meeting in near Fenway at the spacious Mighty Squirrel Brewery for a night of casual networking with founders and tech professionals near the eve of our marquee event during tech week!

Attendance willing, we will set up small groups for founders seeking help and those looking to help or join a startup. This is a sneak peek of our hackathon that will start later in the week. If you are interested in attending our pitch hackathon event later in the week, this will be a great opportunity to ask us any questions and meet others who will be attending (especially if you are local to the area).
Look for the check in flyer at our section. This happy hour will run from 7-9 PM, but you can stick around until closing later in the night.

This is a brand-new type of structure that has never existed before, and there is so much direct value for all parties. Startup Oasis was created to pierce the illusion of accessibility of startups and tech by creating a grassroots forum for early-stage founders to pitch to those in the tech ecosystem to get real-time feedback for their idea or business. - Introductions: during the first 10 minutes, we will give you the history, structure, and future plans of Startup Oasis and open signups for founders that want to pitch their startups.
- Pitches: each founder will then get up to 3 minutes to pitch their startup. This format is recommended: name, business, the problem, your solution, target customer base, and your biggest challenge/current need. This part is similar to Shark Tank.
- Breakouts: for the remainder of the event, each founder gets a breakout room, and you can talk to the founders in greater detail their about their needs and challenges in a small group setting. This part is similar to a hackathon.

- Attendees - If you are new to startups and tech, feel free to just watch with no pressure to participate. If you are looking to join a startup or find a side project, make sure you take notes during the pitches to join the group of the founder that you're most interested in helping. Most founders need help with either developing the product or with a go-to-market strategy.
Do we meet in person? We do this event in Atlanta, USA each month. We will visit your city in the future to do this event in person during our world tour. If you'd like to help us organize, please let us know!
