Details

Note: to attend Monthly Hack Day, please register through our website: http://www.startupedmonton.com/new-events/ (http://www.startupedmonton.com/new-events/2015/12/5/monthly-hack-day)

Join us for monthly Hack Days - time dedicated to building, learning and tinkering in a collaborative setting. Whether you are ready to build a new feature, want to improve your coding skills, or explore design thinking, Hack Days are a great way to get in the habit of building. Plus, it’s a chance to meet more members of the startup community, outside of head-down & focus work-time, and we provide loads of coffee & lunch.

NEW: Taking a page out of the playbooks of some of our best community meetups, we will now have mentors on-hand to offer code reviews, pair-programming sessions, and answer questions.

February 6, 2015 | RSVP by February 4

Mentors: Stay tuned here for an announcement on which mentors will be available!

Requirements: Idea or project to work on (even a class assignment), software or hardware focused, all-skill levels welcome.

Equipment Available: littleBits, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Bluetooth beacon, RFID kit, and Leap Motion.

Schedule:

8:30-9:00am: arrivals, get set up with a workspace, grab a coffee

9:00am: Hack Day starts – either start your project or attend a workshop

9:30-10:30am: workshop #1 (optional)

10:30-11:30am: workshop #2 (optional)

12:00pm: lunch break

1:00pm: continue working on projects or attend a workshop

1:00-2:00pm: workshop #3 (optional)

5:00pm: wrap up, high fives

Still wondering if Hack Day is for you? Our advice is to come down and give it a try! For expert and intermediate level participants, it’s an opportunity to get feedback on your work and spend time on passion products. For beginners, it’s a great way to dedicate time to learn a new skill.
