Join us for our evening BetaCityYEG meetup, working on projects and solutions that emerged out of our recent discussions. We are the city and region's citizen-led digital engagement group. Developers, civic employees, data enthusiasts, students, professionals and general engaged Edmontonians are all welcome! Anyone is free to stay past the one-hour meeting time and collaborate if they so wish.

We will have a presentation from Chris, who helped overhaul the Make Something Edmonton website (https://www.makesomethingedmonton.ca/stories/notice-something-different/), on his experience updating a tool used by thousands of Edmontonians for city-building and cultural projects.

David will present on Tableau (https://www.tableau.com/) using City of Edmonton open data to create interactive, map-based infographics (elevation and bikelanes). David is a member of the Tableau beta testing group and has been able to work with Tableau 10.2, which has a substantial update allowing the tool to work with shapefiles directly, a major improvement over previous versions of Tableau.

We'll have updates on major work happening around pedestrian counting, a social benefits eligibility screening tool using angularJS and elasticsearch, and more.

Check out our site (http://www.betacity.ca), a work in progress. It's got previous community projects and future ideas.

Contact us at BetaCityYEG@gmail.com as well as 780-232-2175 if you have any questions. Thanks!
