Piloting Community-Based Budgeting in Edmonton - BetaCity

BetaCity YEG is back with an exciting (virtual) October meetup for you on Wednesday, October 26, 7:00-8:00 pm.

We've been helping councillors Tang (ward Karhiio) and Knack (ward Nakota Isga) with their Community-Based Budgeting initiative over the summer and are excited to have the project's lead organizer, Kathryn Lennon, share the team's process and learnings from this pilot project. 23 projects were submitted and funded, and over 800 votes from the community were cast (both at physical locations as well as online) for the Community Choice Awards!

We are also excited to have some of the project leads join us to tell us more about their projects, including: Mark Edey (Food Library, Nakota Isga), Mary-Noah (Mindfulness Workshop, Nakota Isga), Linda Doucette (Chess in the Park, Karhiio), and Marcy Vatour (Accessible Adult Helpline, Nakota Isga).
