Talks
Eric Warnke, co-founder of Mover (which was acquired by Microsoft last month), will share some of the lessons he's learned from running his data-migration startup, including the journey towards a successful acquisition.
Eli Kinney-Lang, Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Calgary, will go over the recent Edmonton+Calgary BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) Game Jam (hackathon), where attendees help to create video games for children with their brain as a controller. He will talk about BCI in general, and how it can help children who may never have been able to play a video game before.
Fareeza Khurshed, co-founder of the Data for Good chapter in Edmonton, will talk about their group and their recent Datathon. Data for Good brings together leading data scientists with high impact social organizations through a comprehensive, collaborative approach that leads to shared insights, greater understanding, and positive action through "data in the service of humanity.
We will also provide updates on ongoing community projects, and invite you to add other ideas or to take up one.
