Vaesen / The Haunting of Castle Gyllencreutz / Brookline RPG Day 11
Details
You have the Sight — the ability to perceive things others cannot. This is called being a Thursday's Child. It is not a gift that comes without cost.
The Haunting of Castle Gyllencreutz is a Vaesen one-shot set in a 19th-century Nordic landscape where the old myths are real and something ancient is stirring in the ruins of a crumbling castle. Residents have been disappearing into Castle Gyllencreutz after dark. No one has returned. You have been asked to find out why.
Vaesen is an investigative horror RPG grounded in Scandinavian folk horror — slow-build, atmospheric, and rooted in the collision between a modernizing world and the creatures that predate it. It rewards curiosity, careful attention, and the willingness to sit with unease before the answers arrive.
- Investigation-forward: discovery and roleplay-heavy structure
- Grounded in Scandinavian folklore and folk horror aesthetics
- Smaller table — intimate, character-driven play
- The horror builds; it doesn't announce itself
Content note: This session contains horror content, references to suicide and drowning, and the presence of insects and rats.
No prior experience with Vaesen or folk horror RPGs needed. Pre-generated characters fully prepared.
