About us
Welcome to Steel City RPG!
We host RPG events in locations across Pittsburgh for those who share a passion for Role-Playing Games, Sci-Fi, or slaying Dragons in Dungeons. We are a new group working to provide a safe and welcoming environment for public game nights featuring a variety of TTRPGs.
New player? Veteran? Dungeons and Dragons enjoyer? GURPS enthusiast? All are welcome!
Let's roll the dice and embark on epic journeys within the realms of imagination!
Beyond our public game days, we also provide a hub for connecting people for campaigns and general RPG discussion. If you are interested in advertising your campaign or finding a campaign to join, check out our community hub on Discord, a space we created specifically to give more exposure to events and people looking to form or join a group!

D&D BECMI/ B9: Castle Caldwell & Beyond / Brookline RPG Day 11
Before bounded accuracy. Before character builds and subclass trees. Before the dungeon acknowledged your feelings about it — there was D&D BECMI. And it ran like this.
B9: Castle Caldwell & Beyond is a published TSR module running on the 1983 rules that shaped everything that came after. BECMI strips the game to its essentials: exploration, resource pressure, and a dungeon that will absolutely kill your character if you give it the chance. Gold earns experience. Torches burn down. Death is fast and not particularly dramatic.
Character creation happens at the table — no prep, no backstory required, no attachment recommended. The format runs comfortably at larger table sizes, so bring whoever you want.
- Classic TSR module, run as designed
- Character creation at the session — arrive empty-handed
- High lethality by design: don't get attached
- Larger table capacity: bring your crew
No experience needed. The rules are light enough to learn in five minutes. The dungeon, however, does not offer a tutorial.

RPG Game Day 11 - Halfling's Hideout
Halfing's Hideout, 730 Brookline Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA, USJoin us Sunday for a Tabletop RPG Game Day at Halfling's Hideout in Brookline, Pittsburgh.
Whether you've never touched a d20 or you've been rolling dice for years, you've got a seat at the table. Our GMs run standalone one-shots across a mix of systems — D&D, indie games, narrative RPGs, and whatever they're most excited to bring. No experience required. Pre-generated characters are available for most games.
Halfling's Hideout is a tabletop specialty shop with dedicated table space and terrain available for GMs who want to add some flair to their sessions. Snacks and drinks are available in-store, and outside food is welcome. The neighborhood has great options nearby: Las Palmas for tacos and Pitaland for gyros from a local Greek bakery, plus bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Game List (Updated as Games Are Announced)
12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
D&D BECMI/ B9: Castle Caldwell & Beyond
Daggerheart / The Sablewood Messengers
Dread/ Down River
Vaesen / The Haunting of Castle Gyllencreutz***
How it works
Games kick off around noon and run 4–6 hours depending on the GM. Arrive at 12:00 to meet your table, grab snacks from the shop, and get settled before play begins.- RSVP here to let us know you're coming.
- Browse the individual game listings — added as GMs submit their sessions.
- Sign up for the game you want. That's the signup that matters.
- Show up ready to play.
If a game is full, join the waitlist and still show up. No-shows happen, and spots open more than you'd think. No guarantees, but it's worth being there.
Already RSVP'd but can't make it? Update your Meetup attendance as soon as you know. It takes 10 seconds and means someone on the waitlist gets to play.

Want to run a game?
This event is community-run. If you've got a system you love or a one-shot you've been wanting to run, we want to hear from you. One-shots, mini-campaigns, system demos — whatever you're excited to bring. Terrain is available on-site if you want to use it; just let us know ahead of time.
Submit a game with the GM Submission Form
Games are listed individually on Meetup once confirmed, so players can sign up directly for your session.***
Stay connected
We coordinate games, announcements, and community chat on Discord. It's the best place to ask questions, find players, and stay in the loop between events.***
Support the venue
Halfling's Hideout is a local shop and a natural home for Pittsburgh's tabletop community. Grab some snacks, browse the shelves, and help a great local business thrive.***
Bring your dice, bring your friends, and let the Dice Gods decide the rest. We'll see you in Brookline.

Daggerheart / The Sablewood Messengers / Brookline RPG Day 11
Halfing's Hideout, 730 Brookline Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA, USMarlowe Fairwind, right-hand sorcerer to King Emeris, doesn't ask twice. She's chosen you to carry a sealed crate deep into the ancient forest of Sablewood, destination: the village of Hush, addressed to the Whitefire Arcanist. You have a map, a carriage, and the promise of payment on arrival.
What's in the crate is none of your business. Getting it there is.
The Sablewood Messengers is the official Daggerheart quickstart adventure — a narrative-forward fantasy RPG from Darrington Press that runs on a dual-dice Hope/Fear system, where the momentum of a scene shifts with every roll. This is a great first look at how Daggerheart plays differently from other fantasy RPGs.
- Narrative-focused fantasy with meaningful player choices
- Hope/Fear dice system: every roll shifts the momentum of the scene
- Based on the official Daggerheart quickstart - built for first-time players of the system
No prior experience with Daggerheart needed. Pre-generated characters and character materials provided — just show up ready to play.

Dread/ Down River / Brookline RPG Day 11
Halfing's Hideout, 730 Brookline Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA, USYou've done this trip a dozen times. Same friends, same river, same weekend. But the dock you wake up on isn't the one you left from — and the town at the end of it isn't on the map.
Down River is a Dread one-shot set-in a near-empty town that doesn't want to be understood. Dread is a horror RPG that replaces dice with a Jenga tower: every action that carries risk requires a pull. The tower stays up, you keep going. The tower falls, something goes very wrong. It's one of the most effective tension engines in tabletop horror — and it works on people who've never played an RPG before.
The session draws from survival horror in the vein of Resident Evil and Silent Hill: atmospheric, oppressive, and deeply invested in the question of whether you make it out.
- Jenga tower mechanic: physical tension replaces dice rolling
- Atmospheric horror with social and investigative elements
- Survival-focused — the town is not on your side
- Inspired by classic survival horror video games
Content note: This session contains horror content.
No RPG experience needed. Characters are partially prepared — some choices remain yours at the table.
