2.5 miles, 300’ gain. north out of leeds on hwy 91 there is a dirt road heading right (south) for a couple of miles to a good good parking lot. then we head out through the desert to a beautiful primitive campsite tucked in against the sandstone. we will meet at the intersection of this dirt road with the paved hwy 91, load into high clearance vehicles, then follow me in.
the road has deep sand and last month had huge wash-out ruts. 4x4 and/or high clearance strongly recommended and off-road driving experience is a must.
the trail is a bit hard to follow but recently added signs help. we hike down 300’ towards the river, then back up. most of that 300’ is one big sand hill that is strenuous to climb out but we bypass it with a side trail that is much more gradual.
I will wait until five minutes after, if not everyone is present. After that you will need to catch up. All times listed are utah time, MDT. Sorry, but STG social hikes are not dog friendly. Come enjoy some exercise and good conversation on the trail!
