STG Social Hikes

6 mi, 1000’ gain.

big loop through this corner of the desert. counter clockwise gives us slightly more gradual ascent vs decent. the views are awesome. there are a few petroglyphs. the area is fabulous, partly because it is difficult to get into, detering many people from exploring here. after the hike we can drive a few minutes further into babylon and see the best dinosaur tracks in the county. an amazing wall with many sets of tracks.

2 mi, no elevation gain.

this is a walk in town. from desert vista park along a paved trail and sidewalks to slick rock park, loop around and come back the same way. we end up circling both little parks. short, flat. good for conversation and stretching the legs a bit.

4 miles, 950’ gain

Some very narrow trail segments with beautiful cliff side views along the river. Also majestic vistas of the Virgin River Gorge and colorful rocky peaks all around. the ship rock itself is fun to explore and scrabble around. there is a new ladder that facilitates access to the higher sections, if you’re adventurous. there has been lots if work on this trail in the last year and it is much improved. no more losing the route. this is a minimally strenuous and very fun route.
