STG Social Hikes

4 miles, 400’ gain

the trail is sandy with a little bit of climbing but the arch is very cool. there is a very short slot section in bone wash, just off the main trail, to walk through and enjoy. it should be nice and cool this day so I started a bit later.

The Mokaac Trail is located on the Arizona Strip just about 10 miles south of the end of River Road where it meets the Southern Parkway. We will meet at a parking area immediately south of the Parkway on BLM 1069 (South end of River Road). We will carpool from there to the north Trailhead of the Mokaac Trail where we will begin.

we will do a short out-and-back hike to a spot called quail spring, then back to the cars. I have not hiked this trail before, but it looks pretty relaxed. no crazy climbs or exposure. hopefully we will see lingering wildflowers at this elevation, and some great geography.

3 or 4 miles, probably around 450ft gain.
Gradual light-use trail; in the way to the DaVinci panel there is a side trail, unmarked in any map i’ve seen, that heads south abcs I want to see where it goes. new trail so I don’t know what it holds, but I doubt there will be any scrambling.

We will be surrounded by the incredible scenic multi-colored mountain peaks and mesas. Great views in the gorge, always.
