5 miles, 600’ gain.

yellow knolls is a great hike up a beautiful sandstone canyon. at the top we will hike west to the top of black gulch. hiking down the gulch is some boulder hopping and gloves will save your palms. It often fills with tumble weeds, so a long stick could help us pick our way through them. at the bottom, near the cars again, there Is a steep 200’ climb out of the gulch on a service road. tough way to end a hike, but the gulch is worth it. the gulch is a rocky canyon with some scrambling in this wash, which makes a stark contrast to yellow knolls trail, creating a wonderful, varied loop.

I will wait until five minutes after, if not everyone is present. After that you will need to catch up. All times listed are utah time, MDT. Sorry, but STG social hikes are not dog friendly. Come enjoy some exercise and good conversation on the trail!
