cinder cone trail

Details

less than a mile each way, 500’ gain. short and steep. the trail curves around to the south side then goes up. great views from the top. some good trail-work has been done In the last two years and the steep section got cut In half, with a couple more gradual switchbacks. very nice Improvement . the last bit at the top Is still very steep and slippery with gravel, coming back down Is worse than up, but we take It slow and no-one has gotten hurt to my knowledge. we will circle the crater and even descend Into the crater for the more spry among us. may as well see as much as we can while we are up there. fun little hike

I will wait until about five minutes after if not everyone is present. After that you will need to catch up. Come join us for a lovely walk and good conversations in the morning.
