One trip, two hikes - both Cool - Plus a waterfall & Bristlecone Pines!!!

ARE YOU READY for a hike in the shade with a casual pace? Are you ready for a short but steep hike in the sun that ends up with fabulous views of Cedar Breaks? If you are a beginning hiker or just want to slow down a bit and enjoy nature and the views All Trails lists these two hikes as “moderate” but we’ll keep it easy and no one will be left behind. The first hike will be the Hidden Haven Trail to a waterfall with only about a 275’ elevation gain and a distance of about 2 miles round trip. It is a forest hike with a couple of easy water crossings, mostly in the shade with some small boulder hoping as we approach the waterfalls. May be in the 50's when we start but will warm up quickly to the upper 50's. Class 1 and Class 2.

The 2nd hike will be about a half-hour drive away mostly on dirt road. The Twisted Forest Trail is a steep climb of about a 1/2 mile to the top through a sparse forest of beautifully twisted ancient Bristlecone trees. Great view of Cedar Breaks at the top. We will have plenty of time for rest stops and photos. If you don’t make it to the top the group will pick you up on the way back down, but we will encourage you to the top.I have seen a few children under the age of 5 making it to the top!

We will meet at Toquerville Exit off Interstate 15 and depart at 8:30 a.m. with plans to return by around 3 p.m. I can take 3 riders. Paved road to 1st hike, then some dirt road - passable by most vehicles. I did this hike last Sunday so hope everything is still as described above.

Times posted include drive time. Hikes are near Cedar Breaks. We will actually drive beneath a ski lift so be prepared for the higher elevation. Ice cold beverages after the hike during the snack break.
