Mushroom foraging, dinner, etc. on Bogesund with optional camping
Details
Let's go to a nice place, but still within reasonable distance from Sthlm, where we can pick mushrooms, blueberries or doing whatever we like, and then have a nice dinner by the fire at the shelter!
It's also a nice & easy place to camp, plenty of room and less than 1 km from a bus stop. See pics from a bit later September outing, last year: Smugmug pictures
Getting there and meeting up:
The Karlslund shelter & fire place is located on the north side of Bogesundslandet, see the picture with the map and other info here: Info-link-Karlslund
Bus stop: Ladvik or Nibble (Vaxholm), SL link: T-centralen to Nibble
Meeting up: You can find fellow hikers by 10:30 at Danderyds sjukhus bus stop F, take blue bus 670 (towards Vaxholm) to Nibble, or meet by Nibble bus stop 10:54 where the organizer can meet up. Also possible to hike a bit longer from Ladvik bus stop, perhaps 3 km, and be able to scout a bit along the trail.
Or find us by the shelter around 12:00.
Plan:
After a short hike to the shelter, people can settle in (perhaps help out with firewood for a lunch fire?), before having lunch at the fire place & shelter. After lunch, there are trails & areas in both westerly and easterly directions that can be explored for mushrooms, blueberries, etc. (or even going south for the longer Dammtorpsrundan hike, perhaps 13 km). Bushcrafting, just relaxing, go for a swim or whatever. We can help each other with checking the mushrooms, after returning to the shelter.
Since this is outside the nature reserve, it's also allowed to collect dead wood for firewood and bushcrafting.
Dinner:
The plan is to regroup at the shelter & fire place around 17:00, where the fresh mushrooms (& blueberries?) can be checked and also be used to improve our dinners. There will be a fire, a sort of big old BBQ grid and frying pans there.
Camping:
Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy a stress free evening around a cosy fire, and spend the night in the camping friendly area, without having to go back to Stockholm on Saturday night? Please inform me if I should bring some extra overnight loaner equipment.
But sure, it's also possible to take a Saturday bus back (passes by Nibble every 20 mins).
Bring:
Clothes for the weather (and not too nice for some smoke & embers), water, something to eat & drink for lunch & dinner with plate, mug & utensils. Things like a mosquito repellent, sunscreen, sit pad, swim wear & towel, paper bag or mushroom basket, knife, butter/oil & salt, small bucket for berries, etc. may come in handy.
Overnighters will need overnight equipment of course, and more food & drink for breakfast (& lunch?) at least. Since it's an easy and really short trail, we can bring extra fun or comfort items, that we like to have.
The place may have some traffic noise depending on the wind. Ear plugs can be nice for sensitive sleepers.
Extra contributions?
The organizer will bring tarps with lines, a little starter fire wood, and some wood working tools: saw, small axe, knife, bit and brace drill, etc.
Mini shovel for digging (there's no outhouse there).
No fee, but perhaps you would like to make some kind of contribution to the event? For instance mushroom expertise, good mushroom books, surprise the organizer with some food, some snacks or marshmallows for the group, small appetizer/starter, a mini dessert, dry fire wood or briquettes, arriving early to help the organizer set up camp, or something else?
