What we’re about
STHLM Outdoor (changed name from Stockholm Outdoor Enthusiasts) is a group for anyone that's interested in any kind of outdoor activity, whether it be hiking, climbing, mountain biking, mushroom picking, kayaking, camping or just plain forest walking etc. etc.. All skill levels are more than welcome. The group started as a way to meet other outdoor enthusiasts, experience together, learn from each other and to have a great time and that is the goal forward too!
Experienced people in a certain activity are very welcome to be hosting events. The goal is to have several events every week for people to attend, from bouldering to ice skating. Looking forward to exploring the outdoors with everybody!
We're trying out a new platform, sign up here if interested: https://stockholm-events.nu/@sthlm_outdoor

See all- Remote Island Overnight Hike on Jungfruskär 🏕️ 🌊Link visible for attendees
Jungfruskär and the surrounding rocky islets are one of those hidden corners of the archipelago that few ever reach, unless you have your own boat. Remote and wild, the northern part of the area is completely off-limits during summer to protect nesting birds, leaving it more untouched than almost anywhere else in the region. Jungfruskär also borders the newly established Nämdöskärgården National Park.
As an added bonus, because there isn't a regular boat connection to the island, we'll get our own taxi boat between Nämndö and Jungfruskär (for a very decent price).
Approximate hiking distance: 15-20 km over two days
Difficulty: Be prepared for off-trail on rocks. Make sure you have good shoes and a good sense of balance. Don't pack too heavy.
The plan
On the first day, we'll be picked up on Nämndö and driven to Jungruskär's taxi boat jetty. Once there, we'll hike around the island, and aim for the northern part of the island, following the coastline. We'll set up camp with a good view of the horizon. On Sunday, we'll explore the island a bit more until we get picked up at the jetty.Note that the island is rocky, and tent ground may be rocky too. A self-standing tent is the best option.
Costs
To join the event you need to swish 250 SEK for the two taxi boat journeys immediately upon registration. Payment is required to secure your spot in the event. You will get payment instructions once signing up.If you hold a 30-day SL travel card or one valid for a longer period, the rest of the journey is free with Waxholmsbolaget due to the low season.
Water
There should be a couple of water taps on the island, but bring enough water to be on the safe side.Where to meet
Let’s meet in line or onboard the ferry in Saltsjöbaden Färjeterminal at 10:00 when it departs.Getting there
The journey begins at Saltsjöbaden, with ferry nr 17 towards Stavsnäs via Nämndö departing at 10:00. We'll get off at Ekholmen, where we'll be picked up by a taxi boat at 11:30.Getting back

Let's use the remaining summer warmth and go to a nice place, but still within reasonable distance from Sthlm, where we can pick mushrooms, blueberries or doing whatever we like, and then have a nice dinner by a fire at a shelter!
It's also a nice & easy place to camp, plenty of room and less than 1 km from a bus stop. See pics from last year: Smugmug picturesGetting there, and meeting up, preliminary plan, please check back on Friday:
The shelter with fire place is located on north side of Bogesundslandet, see the picture with the map and other info here: Info-link-Karlslund
Bus stop: Ladvik or Nibble (Vaxholm), SL link: T-centralen to Nibble
Meeting up: You can find fellow hikers by 10:30 at Danderyds sjukhus bus stop F, take blue bus 670 towards Vaxholm, or meet by Nibble bus stop 10:56 where the organizer can meet up. Or find us by the shelter before 12:00.Plan:
After a short hike to the shelter, people can settle in before having lunch at the fire place & shelter. After lunch, there are trails & areas in both westerly and easterly directions that can be explored for mushrooms, blueberries, etc. (or even going south for the longer Dammtorpsrundan hike, perhaps 13km). Or just relax go for a swim or whatever. We can help each other with checking the mushrooms, after returning to the shelter.
Since this is outside the nature reserve, it's also allowed to collect dead wood for firewood and bushcrafting (the organizer will bring some tools for wood working).Dinner:
We will regroup at the shelter & fire place, perhaps around 17:00, where the fresh mushrooms can be checked and also be used to improve our dinners. There will be a fire, a big kind of BBQ grid and frying pans there.Camping:
Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy a stress free evening around a cosy fire, and spend the night in the camping friendly area, without having to go back to Stockholm on Saturday night? But sure, it's also possible to take a Saturday bus back (passes by Nibble every 20 mins).Bring:
Clothes for the weather, water, something to eat & drink for lunch & dinner with plate, mug & utensils, and some warmer clothes for sitting down. Things like paper bag or mushroom basket, knife and something to sit on, small blueberry bucket may come in handy.
Overnighters will need overnight equipment of course, and more food & drink for breakfast at least. Since it's an easy and short trail, we can bring extra comfort or fun items we like to have.
The place may have some traffic noise depending on the wind. Ear plugs can be nice for sensitive sleepers.Extra contributions?
The organizer will bring tarps with lines (perhaps for wind or rain protection), LED string lights, some starter fire wood, and some wood working tools: saw, small axe, knife, bit and brace drill, etc..
No fee, but perhaps you would like to make some kind of contribution to the event? For instance mushroom expertise, bring good mushroom books, old school coffee pot for use over the fire, some snacks or marshmallows for the group, small appetizer/starter, a mini dessert, dry fire wood, arriving early to help the organizer set up camp, or something else?
