St Louis Filmworks (501c3 - www.SLFW.org) is a consortium of business leaders and creatives leading an economic development initiative focused on building a sustainable and profitable filmmaking ecosystem in the St Louis region by attracting and accelerating the careers of emerging independent ‘storytellers’.
Our Mission
St Louis Filmworks mission is to create a ‘go-to’ filmmaker epicenter to attract the world’s best emerging storytellers.
Our Vision
St. Louis Filmworks vision is to build a cutting-edge and sought-after media ecosystem where filmmaker launch and develop their careers as we bring the magic of making movies back to our city over the next ten to fifteen years.

MASTERCLASS: From Script to Set with Mia Bible & Chris Lawing, 5:30-6:30 PM | Networking from 6:30-9PMThis is a rare opportunity to learn from two working filmmakers actively bringing stories from page to production, navigating the real path from script to set.
Featuring Mia Bible: Award-winning actor, writer, and producer whose work spans narrative film, television, and documentary. Her short film HONORABLE earned international recognition and a Best Short Film award, while her production work includes projects with ESPN+, Hulu, and The CW. A St. Louis creative force, Mia is also the founder of initiatives that expand visibility and opportunity for Black artists and production crews.
Featuring Chris Lawing: Award-winning director, editor, and cinematographer with over 25 years of experience across film, television, and commercial production. His career includes work on projects like Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. and numerous broadcast productions, as well as writing and directing feature films including Penitentia and Greg’s Going to Rehab. Through his company, Mercury Films, Chris has built a body of work that blends cinematic storytelling with real-world production expertise.
Together, they’ll break down the first steps of transforming a screenplay into a living, breathing production, moving from words on a page to people, places, and things.
