What we’re about

Stockholm Polyglots
Why join our community?

In today’s society, it’s possible to live or travel in a foreign country without ever interacting with locals or experiencing their native language. Technology and segregation exacerbate this issue.

Our mission is to build bridges between people, regardless of social, economic, or ethnic background, through language-related interactions. Our diverse community strengthens us, fostering mutual learning and challenging cultural stereotypes.

Learning a new language thrives on curiosity, openness, and practice, all pillars of our community. Ultimately, we unite in our shared passion for language learning.

The name polyglot derives from the greek word ”πολύγλωσσος”, meaning a person who speaks many languages. There is no official number on the amount of languages that you need to be called a polyglot. Our group is therefore open for anyone who has a passion for learning languages, regardless of the amount of languages you speak.

How?
1. Introducing people to new languages and cultures in an open and friendly atmosphere.
2. Providing opportunities for language practice, through multilingual conversations.

Where?
Every second Thursday, at Marie Laveau bar from 19:00 to 21:30. We offer language tables, language-related games, and group discussions on language and culture.

How did it all start?
We are a group of passionate polyglots dedicated to language learning. Originating from our chance encounter at Polyglot Gathering in 2022, https://www.polyglotgathering.com/2024/en/
we continued to meet 4 times per year in Stockholm to celebrate our shared love for languages. Now, we’re excited to extend our invitation to fellow language enthusiasts who are driven by a genuine passion for language learning, not obligation. Join us in fostering a vibrant linguistic community!
