What we’re about

Stone Soup was founded over thirty years ago by the Boston poet Jack Powers. Though it's origins are firmly footed in the Beats (highlights over the years have included Gregory Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg, and local figure John Wieners), the weekly gathering has included all styles of poetry at one time or another. Stone Soup Poetry met from 8-10 p.m. every Monday at the Out of The Blue Art Gallery, now at its new location at 541 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square Cambridge, Massachusetts with an open mike sign-up at 7:30 p.m.

This virtual new version of the group where the "stone" has been changed to "sustenance" will focus for the present on sharing writing in various poetic forms, writing from exercises used by poets who teach, and fostering community between poets and writers of songs.
