Every story deserves to be heard. And every story has the possibility of unfolding in a new way.
We all carry stories.
Stories about who we are, where we come from, what we've experienced, and who we are becoming.
Some stories give us strength. Others keep us connected to old emotions, patterns, or ways of seeing ourselves.
But what happens when we give these stories space to breathe, move, and transform?
Story Unfoldings is a welcoming community in Halifax where we explore our personal stories through embodied storytelling, gentle movement, creative expression, and the simple but powerful experience of being witnessed by others.
Rather than only talking about our experiences, we invite the body into the conversation.
Through guided activities, we explore how our stories show up in our emotions, sensations, gestures, and movements. We may discover new perspectives, reconnect with parts of ourselves, and find different ways of relating to the stories we carry.
What happens at our gatherings?
Each gathering offers a gentle and creative exploration of storytelling through:
Embodied storytelling: Bringing our experiences to life through voice, movement, gesture, and imagination.
Somatic awareness: Becoming curious about how emotions and personal experiences are felt in the body.
Creative exploration: Using reflection, improvisation, and playful exercises to discover new meanings.
Authentic connection: Sharing and being witnessed in a supportive, nonjudgmental space.
Personal discovery: Exploring who we are beyond the stories we have always told ourselves.
Who is this for?
Anyone who is curious about personal growth, storytelling, creativity, emotional awareness, or connecting with others in a more meaningful way.
You don't need any experience in theatre, movement, meditation, or storytelling.
You don't need to be a great speaker or know what story you want to share.
And you never have to share anything you don't feel comfortable sharing.
Come as you are, with curiosity and an open mind.
