STORM Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD) and Texas NICA Try-It-Out Event

South Texas Off-Road Mountain Bikers (STORM) and Texas NICA Try-It-Out hosts this free annual youth mountain biking event on the dirt trails at McAllister Park.

This is an excellent opportunity for parents and children to get out on the dirt trails and see how fun mountain biking can be. During this trail riding introduction, kids will learn basic trail skills and trail etiquette. Participants will meet at the McAllister Park practice fields parking lot at Pvalion 5 near the bike skills course and pump track (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Mjtvg8Pjg3zgLcvR8), and the event will last from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Parents and community members are encouraged to attend, meet our dedicated NICA students and coaches, and explore opportunities to get involved as coaches or supporters. It’s a day of fun, community, and discovering the joy of mountain biking. No trail riding experience? No problem. Everyone is welcome!

### Event Schedule

• 9:00–10:00 a.m. — Beginner Skills
• 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. — Group Trail Ride for All Skill Levels
• 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. — Raffles, games, snacks!

### What to Bring

• A working bike
• A helmet
• Water
• Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes
• A positive attitude and a sense of adventure
• You may also bring these optional items: sunglasses, gloves, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

### Who Can Attend?

• This TKMBD event is designed for youth of all ages who can ride a pedal bike without training wheels. The NICA Try-It-Out program is designed for students in grades 5–12.
• Parents/guardians are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend, learn more, and connect with local coaches.

This event is “weather permitting” and dependent on trail conditions to protect the trail system. Updates and cancellations will be posted on this Meetup group, the "STORM South Texas Off Road Mountain-Bikers" Facebook events page, and the STORM website events page (https://stormmtb.org/events).

Parents or accompanying adults must sign a liability waiver for themselves and their child before the ride. Parents/guardians may accompany their child on the ride.
