Compassionate Communications Practice Group in Brentwood - Weekly Tuesday Eve

Compassionate Communications Practice Group in Brentwood - Weekly Tuesday Eve

Details

Would you enjoy to:
• Express your needs with clarity and authenticity?
• Have more choice and inner freedom?
• Improve your ability to give and receive empathy?
• Replace guilt, shame and embarrassment with life-affirming thoughts and language?

Learn and practice an inspiring life-affirming process known as Compassionate Communications (also known as “Nonviolent Communications” or “NVC”) that has spread beyond 60 countries around the world. Presented with simplicity in the two parallel books that we will follow, the process challenges the way we have been taught to think and speak. Join the inspired to improve presence, as well as self-responsibility, empathy for self and others, reconciliation, connection, fulfillment, and peaceful resolution of differences.

This practice group will meet Tuesday nights starting June 4, 2019, except there will be no meeting on June 18 or July 9. Unless we find a larger space, the maximum group size is eight people. However, because notice of the event is being given in more than one place, it may fill quickly.

Cost:
Get these two books:
(1) Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life by Marshall B. Rosenberg; and
(2) Nonviolent Communication Companion Workbook: A Practical Guide for Individual, Group or Classroom Study by Lucy Leu.

A $5/meeting donation is suggested to offset my cost of group supplies and books for others. Let me know if this group is alive and juicy for you, but you have a challenge with these costs. No one will be turned away because of lack of financial resources.

Space is limited to about 8 people. We'll have an initial get-to-meet-each-other meeting. If the group is over-enrolled, members may be selected in an effort to create a gender balanced, diverse group. We will meet in an apartment with two cats.

Syllabus:
Tuesdays, beginning June 4, 2019; 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. (No meetings on June 18 or July 9)

June 4, 2019: We’ll get to know each other a bit, discuss our intentions for the series, and handle organization. You'll get a chance to see how the group feels.

Chapters 1-6: June 11-July 30 (except not on June 18 or July 9). Starting June 11, each meeting will focus on one chapter in each of the two parallel books. I request that you commit to being present through July in order to experience the first six chapters, which cover the basics of compassionate communications.

August 6 - ?? Those enjoying the practice group have the option to continue beyond July. Initially each Tuesday will continue to cover the additional eight chapters, one week at a time. I started an identical group in 2013. It still meets (twice a month now), and still has four original members! I’m starting this group because I have juice to spread the info to newbies and novices!
