About us
The purpose of Stratford upon Avon In Town Meetup is to arrange events and activities that are not only fun in their own right, but also help promote friendship and widen your social circle. It seems to us that the most important thing in life is the people we share our time with.
We will endeavour to arrange a variety of events - from the unstructured, "let’s meet at the pub", to walks, crafts, shows and meals at a variety of venues. Whatever events interest you we hope you’ll find a friendly bunch of like-minded people and enjoy some fun times. We really hope we can help expand your circle of friendships.
A few points to advise you of before you join:
1. The majority of the group are more mature and as such events organised don’t tend to be geared towards the younger generation.
2. We like to know who is coming along to our events and therefore ask you to use your real name and include a photo of yourself however if for personal reasons you prefer not to do this please introduce yourself to the event host when you arrive.
3. We ask you to respect the privacy of our members. Please do not send spam or unsolicited messages to other members or harass any member in any way. Please use the Meetup messaging system to communicate with other members; do not give out personal email/phone numbers until you have established a good friendship/trust with someone.
4. We ask you to try to attend events that you have RSVPd for. If you have to cancel attendance of an event, please give as much notice as possible, to allow any wait listed members to take your place.
5. Lastly, please be aware that Stratford-upon-Avon In Town Meetup is a social group to provide friendship and social activities. It is not a dating agency, many of our members are single but many are not.
A final word, you’ll often get a pop up asking you to pay for up grading your membership or giving you priority on wait lists. These pop ups don’t come from us, they come from the organisation that owns the entire Meetup format. There is usually small print on the pop up giving you the option to ‘continue with the free plan’, or you can just close the window with the X at the top.
We look forward to welcoming you at our events.

Prog Rock Gig, “Mostly Autumn” At the Robin2, Bilston, Wolverhampton, WV14 7LJ
Robin2, 20-28 Mount Pleasant, Bilston, GBWould anyone like to join Richard at this fab concert? He will be driving from Stratford and may have a spare seat or two (or three or four) in his car.
Tickets are priced at £22.00 and can be bought on the door.Mostly Autumn are an English progressive rock band formed in 1995. According to the BBC, Mostly Autumn "fuse the music of Genesis and Pink Floyd with Celtic themes, hard rock and strong, emotional melodies". They have also been compared with other progressive bands from the same era such as [Renaissance, ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance_(band)[Jethro Tull ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jethro_Tull_(band)and [Camel, ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_(band)blended with traditional folk music. Later albums also include more contemporary influences.
Mostly Autumn’s latest album ‘Graveyard Star’ released late 2021 has been very highly acclaimed and follows on from the nomination for best UK band, and best album (White Rainbow) in the Progressive Music Awards 2019. They were winners of Best Track (Sight of Day) and best female vocalist (Olivia Sparnenn-Josh) in the CRS awards 2017.
Mostly Autumn have built their fan base through the old-fashioned, but highly effective, way of playing live at every opportunity. Counted amongst the top 100 best prog bands of all time, their musical palette is diverse. and while they draw on influences from the golden age of seventies’ rock, they have developed their own unique sound and style that both captures some of the essence of that heady era and yet looks forward into the future.
Delighted to be invited to support Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow in 2016 and 2017, they have earned themselves a name for their outstanding live shows and have been described as ‘the best band you have never heard’.
They have built a loyal and cult following since their first album twenty years ago and in that time such luminaries as Steve Hackett, the late Richard Wright, the late Jon Lord and the BBC’s own Bob Harris are amongst their many fans.
Mostly Autumn has also toured as an invited support act to Blackmore’s Night, Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull, as well as being special guests at Bryan Adam’s Murrayfield Stadium gig a few years ago. That alone should give some indication as to the caliber of the band.
