The Lady in the Van - Bear Pit Theatre Stratford
Details
Alan Bennett’s The Lady in the Van is a poignant, witty exploration of an unlikely real life relationship between a playwright and a homeless woman who lives in a van on his driveway for fifteen years.
Set in Camden Town during the 1970s and 1980s, the play dramatizes the true story of Miss Mary Shepherd, a mysterious and eccentric woman who parks her dilapidated van in Alan Bennett’s garden and stays there far longer than anyone anticipated.
What begins as a temporary arrangement evolves into a complex, often humorous cohabitation that challenges Bennett’s boundaries and assumptions.
My ticket is seat E10. If anyone would like to join me there are currently seats in the same row and behind. Tickets are £15 + booking fee.
The online booking system is a bit strange in that the first screen for selecting your seat is back to front (sold appears to be reversed with available) but you need to select a seat on that page to go to the next page where you see the available seats!
