Israeli-Palestinian Dialogue

Details
The destructive violence of the past few months between Israel and the Palestinians has shocked the world. A generalized sense of injustice and insecurity has compelled citizens with different sensibilities to take a stance. The atmosphere of agitation and suspicion towards each other’s motives has led to deep polarization.
We aim to facilitate deep and candid conversations among individuals from all sides of the divide, and we are inviting 9 people to participate in a dialogue about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Pre-Meeting August 8 & 10
Prior to the event, we will hold a short meeting via Zoom to discuss the format and expectations for the event. These virtual meetings will be August 8, 6:30-7:15pm; 7:30-8:15pm, and August 10, 10:30-11:15am. You must be attend one of the pre-meetings if you wish to participate in this event.
Limited to 9 Participants
To create a convivial atmosphere, and ensure that everyone has time to speak and express themselves, we are limiting this event to 9 participants. As described in the selection criteria below, we will ensure balance by selecting 3 people on each side of this topic, and 3 participants who are moderate on the topic.
Selection Process
If you are interested in participating, please RSVP to this event. You will be added to the waitlist. We will then contact you, and if selected to participate, we will move you to the attendee list.
We wish that we could invite everyone to participate in this event, but to ensure a convivial atmosphere we are limiting it to 9 participants and we are selecting the participants to ensure a balance of viewpoints. We apologize to anyone who is not selected, and we invite you to participate in other events hosted by Dialogue Montréal or Studio 42.
Selection Criteria
To ensure a balanced dialogue, we will select 3 participants on each side, and 3 participants who are moderate on the topic, for a total of 9 participants. We will also conduct virtual pre-meetings prior to the event and ensure that everyone is committed to having a thoughtful and open dialogue.
Goal of this Dialogue
This dialogue does not have any goal in regards to the actual situation of Israel and Palestine. It is not our goal to change anyone's mind or to try to solve the crisis. Our goal is to facilitate exchange, and have deep and candid conversations that achieve human connection in spite of differing views.
Moderator's Viewpoint
This event is organized and moderated by Raphaël Yeretsian and Geoff Brown from DIPA Montreal. While we have opinions on the topic, we remain impartial, and the goal of these dialogues is to allow participants to share their thoughts and experiences without favouring a side, and without seeking to achieve any goal or resolve the situation.
