The difference Principle of John Rawls

John Rawls was an American political philosopher who made a significant contribution to the field of ethics when he produced his magisterial text entitled '' The Principles of Justice.'' Using a hypothetical veil of ignorance as his starting premise, Rawls argued for the adoption of an egalitarian system that would prioritize political/civil liberty and equality of opportunity for the citizenry over all other considerations. However, he did permit the inclusion of a ''difference principle'' that would tolerate a certain degree of economic inequality on the condition that it ultimately worked to raise living standards for the most disadvantaged members of society. This will be the subject of discussion at the meetup.
