MODERATE PLUS - VARIOUS TRAILS TO FAT MAN’S PASS AND BACK IN A LOOP HIKE AT SOUTH MOUNTAIN PARK

Hike leader: David Coffman 425-330-2183
Date: Feb 16,2026
Trailhead: Pima Canyon Parking lot which has multiple trails
Description: Loop
Join us on one of the most popular hikes at South Mountain Fat Man’s Pass and Hidden Valley.
The first mile of the trail has gradual grades with views of several trails and hills in South Mountain Park. We continue hiking with an ascent to Ridgeline Trail; following the ascents and descents of the Ridgeline until we get to the saddle and continue downhill to the Javelina Canyon Trail which we continue for 1.5 miles to the National Trail. At this point we take a snack break and then continue on National Trail to Hidden Valley and Fat Man’s Pass.
After hiking through and viewing all the amazing rock formations in Hidden Valley, we reconnect with the National Trail and continue hiking until it connects with the Pima Canyon Trail which loops back to the parking lot.
Like all South Mountain hikes the trail consists of loose rocks and uneven surfaces so good hiking shoes and poles are recommended.
