Meet in the breakfast area of Sleep Inn to set groups and car pools. Again we will split the Mellow group into 2.

Beehives/New Wave
Description: We will walk 2 miles around a large “slick rock” sandstone formation with an area much like The Wave but much smaller. The term slick rock is misleading, as the rock is not at all slick but rather quite rough. There will be some climbing, but not much.
Trailhead: From the Sleep Inn head toward the dam on Scenic View Road. At the circle take the third exit onto AZ-89 across the bridge. Continue about 1.9 miles and turn LEFT just beyond a blue sign on the right of the highway for FOOD, ATTRACTION and LODGING. Drive past the campground parking area and park facing a large formation ahead. Assemble at the parking lot. There are restrooms at the Trailhead.

Toadstool/Hoodoos
Description: The trail is in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Utah. It is relatively flat, generally walking in a dry creek bed. At one point there is a bit of an edgy area we can bypass as necessary. After about 1 mile we arrive at an area of very interesting formations. The round trip hike will exceed 2 miles but is nearly flat.
Trailhead directions: From the Beehive parking lot, return to AZ-89 and turn LEFT. Continue driving for about 26 miles. You will cross the border into Utah. The trailhead is well marked with road signage. Turn in and park. There are NO facilities.
