Take I-10 South to exit 219 (Picacho Peak Rd). There are bathrooms at the trailhead. We will hike to the peak from the steep and shorter Hunter trail (1.6 miles to the top). Numerous impressive views on the way up. This year we will go in and out on the Hunter trail as it looks that there will not be a wild flower bloom on the back side of the mountain on the valley floor. Without a flower bloom to see there's not much reason to hike down the back side of the peak and shuttle cars for the return trip to the trailhead. Make sure you bring work gloves for the sections with steel cables, your hands will thank you! Also, be able to stash your hiking poles as you will need both hands for the cables at times.
