MELLOW: JACOBS CROSSCUT IN LOST DUTCHMAN STATE PARK/SUPERSTITIONS

EARLY MEETUP TIME 6:30 AM, WITH DEPARTURE AT 6:45 AM. (These are the usual meetup and departure times during the months of March and April).
This hike is an out-and-back along the base of the Superstition Mountains. We start from the first parking lot just off AZ88. The trail will pass through diverse vegetation that includes saguaros, mesquite and paloverde as well as grasses and sprawling cholla gardens. The trail is smooth in areas but other areas have the usual protruding rocks along with uneven surfaces. Good hiking shoes and poles are warranted.

There are NO facilities at the trailhead. We recommend stopping at the Quik Trip after you turn left off of Highway 60 onto Idaho Road (Highway 88) at the corner of Idaho Road and Old Apache Trail. There is also a Fry's marketplace across the road from Qwik Trip. The lunch option will be Dirtwater Springs in Apache Junction.
