What we’re about
WELCOME TO SUNBIRD AND SURROUNDING BOARD GAME GROUP! THIS MEETUP GROUP WAS CREATED TO JOIN LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS WHO EITHER LOVE THE HOBBY OR JUST NEW TO MODERN BOARD GAMES AND WANT TO GIVE IT A SHOT! OUR FOCUS IS TO, FIRST AND FOREMOST, HAVE FUN! WE WANT EVERYONE TO FEEL WELCOME AND IT'S OUR MISSION FOR OUR MEMBERS TO NOT FEEL INTIMIDATED BY LEARNING AND PLAYING NEW GAMES, NOR FEEL THE NEED TO BE OVERLY COMPETITIVE.
OUR GROUP'S ORGANIZER, ADRIANNE, WILL SCHEDULE MEETUPS IN THE SUNBIRD GOLF COURSE RESTAURANT AND SURROUNDING AREAS DURING THE WEEKENDS. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST ANY VENUES THAT WOULD ACCOMODATE US. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN ORGANIZER, PLEASE REACH OUT TO HER AND SHE WILL GLADLY ADD YOU AS ONE.
OUR GAMES: THERE IS NO LIMIT ON WHAT TYPES OF GAMES CAN BE PLAYED AT OUR MEETUPS. HOWEVER, WE'D LIKE TO FOCUS ON MODERN BOARD GAMES, IE, SPLENDOR, CATAN, CARCASSONNE, AND SUCH (IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF ANY OF THOSE, IT'S A-OK!). WE WILL PLAY A VARIETY OF DICE, PARTY, CARD, TILE-LAYING, ROLL AND WRITES, AND HIDDEN ROLE GAMES. THERE'S A GAME FOR EVERYONE!
EVENTS: ADRIANNE WILL CHOOSE A FEATURED GAME, ALONG WITH A LINK TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THAT GAME OR JUST SEE WHAT IT'S ABOUT. THERE IS NO EXPECTATION TO KNOW OR EVEN LEARN THE GAME PRIOR TO THE MEETUP. THERE WILL ALSO BE OTHER GAMES BROUGHT TO PLAY IF THAT ONE DOESN'T TICKLE YOUR FANCY! WE WELCOME EVERYONE TO BRING YOUR GAMES, TOO!

Welcome, Sunbird and Surrounding Board Game Members! Our first event is now scheduled! We will be meeting at Barro's Pizza located at 950 E. Riggs Road here in Chandler this Saturday, May 24th at 1 pm. We will be located in the area off to the left of the front counter. Adrianne will have a meetup sign at her table.
We do ask that you please support Barro's by purchasing food or drinks in appreciation for accommodating our group at this time. I've added a link to their menu below:
I will bring Art Society to teach and play if anyone is interested. Feel free to click the link below to learn more. There is no expectation to learn the game beforehand!

Everyone is encouraged to bring games to share! Feel free to post those games in the comments if you'd like. There will be other games for us to play as well. Games should commence around 1:15-1:20 so that we can do some meet and greets and order food/drinks.
