Trail Work - Upper Hillsborough because trails don't maintain themselves!!

It's almost Fall hiking season. Volunteer to join us to show a little love to the trails. We will be mowing, lopping, and blazing (painting) Upper Hillsborough Management area.

There is no experience needed. All training will be provided.
Bring lots of water, sun & bug protection and snack along with your good attitude packed in a small backpack. We will not be near the vehicles until we are finished. We will hike up to a 3 miles depending on trail needs. There is no water or bathroom facilities at the trailhead.

You MUST have closed toed shoes, long pants. Long sleeves are recommended to keep bugs and poison ivy off your arms and legs, and gloves. I will have gloves, eye protection (you can wear sunglasses/regular glasses), and Loppers. You may bring your own.
The trail will still have a few blow downs that the certified sawyers will deal with as we go. If you are a certified sawyer we would love to have you join us. There will be a need for loppers, blaze painters and DR mower divers all depending on the number of volunteers attending.
We are starting early to maximize our time on the trail and will stop once we have had enough fun for the day :). The more volunteers we have participate, the more we can get done before the heat hits.

Protecting the upper reaches of the Hillsborough River, the river's floodplain provides natural storage of floodwaters and acts as a filtration system for runoff. The property also serves as an important link in protecting wildlife habitat in the Hillsborough River greenway corridor. The property's roads and trails meander through pine flatwoods, consisting of both slash and longleaf pine overstory, palmetto/gallberry understory and hydric hammock and floodplain swamp along the river.
