This park is largely known as a boat launch and off road cycling hub. It is however a great hiking hub. The boardwalk is one of 3 lush tropical canopied walkways that are accessed here. The Buteo and Bald Cypress Trails are two foot traffic only park trails.
We'll walk these 3 paths and end up at the scenic overlook. From there, a return to the park will be than a 3 mile hike.
For those who want to sample off trail adventure, from the overlook, instead of returning to the parking lot, we will venture off trail on the dry river floodplain. We'll just wander around out here a bit, not too far and then return to the overlook road and back to our cars. This should be no more than 4 miles total.
There are restrooms and water at the trailhead. There is a $2.00 day use fee, if the pay station is working LOL. Bring some water, whatever personal items you need. If you join us on the floodplain, you will need closed toe shoes.
