Come help us restore our dunes at Apollo Beach!
Following our successful planting of 7,000 sea oat plugs, we now need your help to install sand fences to keep our dunes growing big and tall. Dunes are vital for protecting our beaches, as they reduce wind and flood damage while providing habitat for native wildlife and vegetation. Sand fences are a simple management tool used to trap wind-blown sand, helping dunes form faster.
Activities include:

  • Installing approximately 30 sections of 10-foot sand fencing
  • Digging post holes with augers and pole-hole diggers
  • Securing fencing with drills

Protective footwear is a must as we will be handling heavy material and machinery!

What to Bring:

  • Closed-toe shoes (required) - sturdy hiking or work boots recommended
  • Work gloves
  • Water
  • Hat and sun protection
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Light snacks if desire
