About us
Greetings! My name is Tu Nguyen. I created this little meetup group to meet people and chat while I crochet. Fun fact, I actually started learning knitting first then I switched to crochet and love it since. Sometimes I would get back to knitting but relapse to crocheting shortly after. Anyways, if you love to make things with yarn and love to yap, this is the place for you. I'm chronically online and I need to step out to reality once a while. Joining this group, you will help me touch grass and become a better person. I have been hosting for a bit now so I would like to say thank you for all the members who have shown up. 99.99% of people I have met are very nice, well put together, gorgeous looking, and sooo fun to talk to. I have learned a lot from you all. I would also like to make some rules to maintain this amazing group's etiquette for our new members.
1. Open to all
Everyone can join. This group is open to all age, gender, religion, race, and political opinions. I will remind myself to be mindful and respectful at all time and you should too. No tolerance for any discrimination of any kind.
2. Make something
I crochet with yarn. You can do any craft and bring any materials you want at our meetups. I personally also do polymer clay (no need to have a kiln, dry in regular oven, love it), cross stitch, embroidery, junk journal, water coloring (have only a book and a color set for a while now, don't judge). I know I said come and yap but yapping is optional (for example when you're counting your 100 stitches, it's important). I just wanna say, this is still a crafting meetup group first and for most. Please don't be creepy nor have any other ill intention coming here. No tolerance for harassment of any form.
3. RSVP
This is actually not a rule. I'm very chilled. You rsvp'ed and don't show up? It's OK. It happens. You've no shown every time? It's still OK. It happens. I fell to sickness not long ago. I had to cancel on my friends a lot of times. They even said, "Just come, lie down in one of our bedrooms and rest!" But I didn't wanna go and be a blob. So I get it, for whatever reason you couldn't make it, it's OK. And if you are on waitlist, you can come too (may not have a chair but I will tryna squeeze you in). I will love you ( meaning yap your ears off) equally like everyone else.
4. Support the business
Meetups will always be at a local (or local chain) coffee shop. Enjoy a drink and some little dessert. If you have a recommendation for a nice local coffee or dessert place with big tables in the East Side of Seattle, let me know! Oh if you have your own crafting business, tell people too! (I don't do AI ban here because it's against my 1. rule up there but I'd frown upon still.)
5. Feedback
Please let me know if you have any question or concern. I'm the host but please allow me to be a human with flaws. I will listen and take actions as soon as I can. I promise to be fair and supportive. (Though just a reminder, I'm volunteering and have a job on weekdays lol.)
I hope you enjoy your time in this meetup group. I can't wait to scroll through your camera roll while you show me your art creations. I will help you untangle your yarn (I have a reputation). We will all heart-eye so hard at your amirugumi. Flex your crochet fashion (I know I would). And yap! See you soon!
