We will meet in Moab, Utah and canoe 60 miles (6 Days) down the Green River to the confluence of the Colorado River. This trip is on flat water (no rapids) through Canyonlands National Park. Experience the same trip the Powell Expedition did in 1870. Hike the canyons, see Anasazi Indian ruins, camp on sandy beaches, swim, fish or just cool off in the river.

Leave OC: Whenever you want, to arrive in Moab, Utah by Fri May 2 about 5 pm

River Dates: Friday May 3 Launch from Mineral Bottom on the Green River.
Thu May 8 Pick up at Spanish Bottom on the Colorado River by jet boat.

Total Trip Cost approximately $555.00.
Trip costs pays for canoes, food, stay at my house in Moab, outfitter shuttle, Canyonlands permit fee, launch fees and 4 hour pick up by Jet Boat ride up the Colorado River.

ITINERARY
We will be leaving from Orange County via carpools/ caravan to stay overnight at a hotel/casino in Mesquite Nevada or motel at St George Utah (approximately 6 hours drive from OC. Everyone needs to arrive in Moab Utah on Fri 5-2. (approx. 7 hr drive from Mesquite). Group dinner Friday evening to meet and discuss trip. Stay at local motel or my house in Moab. Meet at the outfitter to load and set off!

Paddle 6 days down to the confluence of the Colorado and Green River. Paddle about 3 to 4 hrs a day taking breaks through out (swimming, fishing, and hiking). Camp on sandy beaches. Pick up by jet boat at Spanish Bottom on the Colorado River. Arrive back at the outfitter at 4 pm Friday 5-8. Celebration group dinner.

Lunch and dinner meals will be provided.
Breakfast – simple! Examples: oatmeal, granola, bagels
Lunches – Sandwiches, crackers, fruit
Dinner – evening meals will be hot (social cooking!!)

NOTE: YOU WILL NEED 1-GALLON OF WATER PER DAY PER PERSON. PLAN ON BRINGING SUITABLE CONTAINERS TO FILL IN MOAB. 1 OR 2-GALLON PLASTIC JUGS WORK BEST IN THE BOATS. NO GLASS.

Snacks – you will need to bring your own snacks (nothing in “group” coolers!) for your personal consumption during the day. We recommend trail mix, dry fruit, candy, crackers, beef stick, jerky, etc.

CLOTHING
General - Weather is always an unknown factor – we recommend “2-season” clothing, i.e., quick-drying shorts, t-shirts and long pants/sweatshirt.
Water sandals or shoes, Hiking shoes or boots
Swimsuit or water shorts, Hat (sun protection)
Gloves (for paddling), Rain Gear (it will rain)

PERSONAL ITEMS
Sunglasses, DEET (Bug Repellent), Sun Screen Lotion, Chapstick, Hand Lotion, Towel, Toiletries, Personal Meds ( use biodegradable soap & shampoo – it’s river bathing!!)

GEAR
Tent, Rain fly and Ground cloth, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Flashlight
Eating Utensils, Plate, Bowl, Drinking Mug,
Personal Water Bottle (in-canoe use), Dry Bag (for clothes, etc)
