TrainDay2SD Fair on Juneteenth

This Thursday June 19th let’s take the train from Irvine to the San Diego Fair.

We’ll grab a $10 Holiday Day Pass for Metrolink, and at the Oceanside Transit Center we’ll get a NCTD Fair Tripper ticket for $15 that will cover our Coaster train ride to Solana Beach (where we’ll take the free shuttle to the SD Fair at the Del Mar Racetrack. ) plus our San Diego County fair ticket. Feel free to hop on other OC line trains. Metrolink will be running a weekend schedule, and the trains we will be taking do not service union station, only as far north as Orange. We’ll be taking OC 1660 @ 9:49am to Oceanside where we’ll connect with Coaster 632 at 11:36am arriving at Solana Beach 12:01pm

Meetup on Platform 2 the Near Side, with your $10 Holiday Day Pass paper ticket in hand. Purchase your Metrolink ticket from the ticket kiosk at Irvine Station, Look for the $10 Holiday Pass. Don’t pay with greater than $20.00! Parking at Irvine station is free.

In Oceanside we’ll purchase our $15 fair tripper tickets at the pronto machines there.

We will plan on taking Coaster 637 from Solana Beach at 4:59pm to connect with IE/OC 1860 at 6:23pm for our return to Irvine. We may make OC1667 at 5:23pm but with a 1 min to transfer this is not certain. We will have lunch at the fair, bring your own if you want, any drinks brought into the fair need to be in factory sealed containters.

Pre apply sunscreen, wear a hat and wear comfortable walking shoes we’ll be walking ~5+ miles mostly hard flat surfaces with some hills and stairs along the way. Bring a 1liter refillable bottle of water for the walk and a snack for after lunch.
