Hike to the Dana Point Sea Caves aka Pirate's Cave

Details
ABOUT THE HIKE: With low tide at 11:16 am on this Saturday morning, we are hiking to the Dana Point Sea Caves. This is a 1.5 mile round trip on a single track trail that is part sand, part dirt and part slippery, sandy, wet rock scramble. Your feet will probably get wet as we enter the caves. While short in distance, this is a hike for experienced, sure footed hikers. Hiking poles are suggested. We will be hiking as a group, at a slow pace, with a sweep. Following our visit to the caves, we will explore the exposed tide pools with their abundant sea life. You may consider this an Orange County bucket list hike, for those that have never done it.
POST HIKE CELEBRATION: For the survivors of Pirate's Cave, bring snacks for lunch at picnic tables behind the Ocean Institute. BYOBeverage.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point, turn on to Golden Lantern.... turn right on Dana Point Harbor Drive.... past Baby Beach at the Harbor turning basin.... turn right or left into parking lots.... look for the group next to the wharf between Baby Beach and the Ocean Institute. See map for details.
