Canyon Park (through Talbert Nature Preserve) to Fairview Park - Dog Friendly

*** When you arrive, enter the park and drive to the lower parking lot. If the gate is closed park street side and walk to the lower lot.***

This beginner hike is mostly flat on paved and hard-packed trails. We will enjoy a walk through a shady city park, a nature sanctuary, salt marshes, and the Santa Ana River.

We will start at the lower parking lot near the kiosk in Canyon Park in Costa Mesa and our route will take us into the Talbert Preserve where we will see a variety of natural landscapes. The trail will meet the Banning Bike Path along the Santa Ana River which we will follow North to Fairview Park. After a short rest, we will continue on through a residential neighborhood. The hike will be canceled with fewer than three hikers.

Don't forget to bring water, a hat, walking shoes and a good attitude.

Difficulty: This 4.5 mile/50 feet of gain beginner walk is accessible for most healthy people able to walk about 2 hours.

Directions: Take the 55 Freeway south to the end of the freeway. Turn right on 19th Street. Turn right on Monrovia and make a quick left on Arbor Street. The park is located on the right at 970 Arbor Street. We will meet in the lower parking lot near the kiosk and bike rack.
