TrainDay2LA: explore Smorgasburg, Little Tokyo and the Arts District
Let’s take the train to LA Union Station and walk to Smorgasburg @ Row DTLA.
Smorgasburg L.A. is an open air food providing a platform for nearly 100 small businesses curated from the next wave of SoCal’s food, beverage and shopping scene. With a family friendly beer garden and more.

We will also explore Little Tokyo and the Arts District having lunch at Smorgasburg or other area restaurants. Google Maps is your friend!
We will use LA metro and expect to walk 5+ miles

We’ll use the Metrolink $10 SoCal Day Pass which transfers to all Metro rail lines for seamless exploration. I plan to use the LA Metro, so if you are not using the Metrolink Weekend Day Pass, you will need a LA Metro TAP Card - Transit Access Pass

This event will have no sweep to bring up the rear (unless I have any volunteers) and bathrooms may be limited so stay together or know how to get back to Union Station with Google Maps!

🚶‍ What We’ll Do:
• Take Metrolink from Irvine to LA Union Station
• Take Metro A line to Little Tokyo walk to Smorgasburg
• Grab lunch from vendors at Smorgasburg or local restaurants
• Explore the Arts District, Little Tokyo and optionally the 6th Street Viaduct on foot
• Expect to walk ~5-7 miles throughout the day, with flights of stairs possible along the way

🕓 Schedule: Outbound – Metrolink:
• 🕐 9:00 AM: Arrive Irvine Train Station (15215 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, CA), get your ticket, and Meetup on Platform 1 the far side look for Chris
• 🕐 9:21 AM: Depart Irvine Station on Metrolink OC 1661 (feel free to hop on at other stations)
• 🕙 10:34 AM: Arrive at LA Union Station
• 🕙 10:40 AM: Meet at Union Station West in front of Starbucks and Wetzel’s (Not the Starbucks pickup on the East—nearby bathrooms and water fill available)
• 🕙 10:45 AM: We will walk to Tunnel 2 and Take the A line towards Long Beach 1 stop to Little Tokyo
• 🕙 12:00 PM: Arrive Smorgasburg
• 🕙 12:00 PM: - 1:00PM Lunch @ Smorgasburg
• 🕙 1:00 PM: walk back to Little Tokyo Metro exploring the Arts District and optionally the 6th Street Viaduct

Return – Metrolink:
• 🕔 3:40 PM: Catch A line from Little Tokyo to LA Union Station or walk
• 🕔 4:27 PM: Depart LA Union Station on Metrolink OC 1668
• 🕕 5:36 PM: Arrive back at Irvine Station

🎟️ Tickets & Costs: • Metrolink So Cal Day Pass: $10 ($5.00 for seniors) Buy at Irvine Station via the ticket machine: → Tap Buy Tickets > SoCal Day Pass The SoCal Day Pass covers all transit needed, including transfers to Metro rail

• Comfortable walking shoes
• Sun protection: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
• Refillable water bottle • A light snack

Meeting Options:
• At Irvine Station Platform 1 the far side (or meet onboard Metrolink OC 1661 from Irvine look in 2nd car from front)
• Or at LA Union Station in front of Starbucks/Wetzel’s after we arrive ~10:40am
