TrainDay2LA: Shepard Fairey OUT OF PRINT Exhibition

Let’s take the train to LA Union Station where we will take the METRO to see Shepard Fairey’s OUT OF PRINT Exhibition.

Shepard Fairey’s has works throughout LA and is one of the premiere street artists globally.

About the exhibition: Featuring over 400 screen prints and new hybrid works, the show traces Fairey’s evolution across three decades—from guerrilla interventions to globally recognized icons—spotlighting his lifelong dialogue with printmaking and the power of mass communication.

Through posters, album art, stencils, and layered editions, OUT OF PRINT highlights how Fairey harnesses the language of advertising and propaganda to provoke thought and inspire action. The exhibition captures the tactile immediacy of print in an increasingly digital world—affirming that “printing still matters.”

We will start our trip with Metro/Bus ride and Lunch at Farmers Market L.A. I've been wanting to take you guys here, and it is near the Gallery. After lunch, we’ll head to the BEYOND TH STREETS Gallery for the exhibition. We will walk ~ 6 miles total YMMV take the metro here and there and have a epic adventure seeing Shepard Fairey’s works in the gallery and in misc Street Art in the wild of LA.

We’ll take OC 1661 @ 9:21am to LA Union, scheduled to arrive LA at 10:34 am. In Irvine, Look for Chris at the North end of Platform 1 the far side, use the bridge to cross the tracks. Be ready to board the 2nd car from the front at 9:21am We’ll take OC 1668 back leaving at 4:27pm from Union Station arriving Irvine at 5:36pm.

Get your printed Metrolink SoCal DayPass for $10.00 at Irvine Station, Seniors and Students for $5.00. To buy your Metrolink ticket at the station Use the Metrolink ticket kiosk, hit Buy Tickets, then SocalDay Pass. Follow the instructions on the ticket vending machine screen. Note: Do not pay with a bill larger than a $20 or you may not get change!

If meeting us in LA (and not taking Metrolink) you will need an LA Metro Tap Card or cash for the bus. (our Metrolink SoCal DayPass provides free transfers to METRO bus and rail.)

Depending on the weather, Bring a coat, Pre apply sunscreen, wear a hat and wear comfortable walking shoes we’ll be walking ~6 miles mostly hard flat surfaces with some hills and stairs along the way. YMMV! Bring a refillable bottle of water for the walk and a snack for after lunch.

🚶‍ What We’ll Do:
• Take Metrolink from Irvine to LA Union Station
• Grab eats from Farmers Market L.A.
• See Shepard Fairey’s OUT OF PRINT Exhibition
• Expect to walk ~6 miles throughout the day, with flights of stairs possible along the way
• We’ll visit some notable Street Art from various artists.
🕓 Schedule: Outbound – Metrolink:
• 🕐 9:00 AM: Arrive Irvine Train Station (15215 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, CA), get your ticket, and Meetup on Platform 1 the far side look for Chris
• 🕐 9:21 AM: Depart Irvine Station on Metrolink OC 1661 (feel free to hop on at other stations)
• 🕙 10:34 AM: Arrive at LA Union Station
• 🕙 10:40 AM: Meet at Union Station West in front of Starbucks and Wetzel’s (Not the Starbucks pickup on the East—nearby bathrooms and water fill available)
🕙 10:45 AM: We’ll start our trek

Return – Metrolink:
• 🕔 3:00 PM: Head back to LA Union Station
• 🕔 4:27 PM: Depart LA Union Station on Metrolink OC 1668
• 🕕 5:36 PM: Arrive back at Irvine Station

• At Irvine Station Platform 1 the far side (or meet onboard Metrolink OC 1661 from Irvine)
• Or at LA Union Station in front of Starbucks/Wetzel’s after we arrive ~10:40am
