ABOUT THE HIKE: From the Ridge Park entrance to Crystal Cove State Park, we will take the West Ridge Trail down to the look out point. You may proceed the longer hike all the way to NoName Ridge Trail and back. This wide dirt fire road will be at times steep and rocky with beautiful canyon and ocean views. This will be a timed hike of roughly 30-45 minutes out and 30-45 minutes back with a five minute rest stop to regroup at the lookout point. Total hike time will be less than 1.5 hour. This is intended to be an intermediate level conditioning hike without a sweep. Total round trip distance will be about 4 miles, with approximately 1,100 feet elevation gain and loss.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From the 405 Freeway, take Culver Drive offramp toward the beach. Culver turns into Bonita Canyon Drive. Turn left on Newport Coast Drive at the 73 toll road. Turn left on Ridge Park Road proceeding up the hill to East Coastal Peak Road with Coastal Ridge Park on your right. From the 73 toll road, take the Newport Coast Drive exit heading toward the beach. Turn left on Ridge Park Road proceeding up the hill to East Coastal Peak Road with the Park on your right. From PCH, take Newport Coast Drive inland. Turn right on Ridge Park Road proceeding up the hill to the park as described above. We meet at the restrooms in parking area for the Coastal Ridge Park. ADDITIONAL NOTES: Dogs are not allowed on the trails in this wilderness area.
