Sunshine Social Hike 11/16: King Canyon 😁☀️
Let’s enjoy a scenic hike near the desert museum with petroglyphs out at King Canyon! We will be hiking the King Canyon trail out and turning around by the petroglyphs and hiking back through the wash.
This will be an approximately 2.5 mile hike with around 300 feet of elevation gain and will take us about an hour and forty to complete. The mile out is a little rocky and has some elevation for a social hike, we will take our time and take some breaks on the way out. Once at the ‘picnic area’, we will turn into the wash, take a group pic at the petroglyphs and then it’s a mile of wash hiking back to the trailhead.
We will be starting introductions at 8:00am. After intros, we will begin hiking and return to the parking lot just before 10:00am (having taken our customary group picture at the halfway point, of course 😁)
Please bring water and sunscreen, hiking poles may be useful in the rocky parts. This trail is a little rocky in parts, and it will be shaded in some parts.
The weather forecast right now calls for 52 degrees at the start and 55 by the time we finish, cold spell! 🥶 I recommend layers.
This is not a dog friendly trail, so sorry
Parking available at the trailhead. If full, parking available at the Desert Museum, please be careful crossing the street.
Brunch is 15 minutes away at Bisbee Breakfast Club on Ajo, I’ll get a count after the hike. Being in season, the wait for a large table may be up to 45 minutes, but there is a farmer’s and artisan’s market and Starbucks nearby to spend the time and grab an early coffee.
We will be taking pictures and posting them to our group Facebook page. Thank you for your consent to post by joining our hike.
Hope to see you out there 😎
Thanks,
