AI Meetup with Baidu Research (Andrew Ng, Bryan Catanzaro, Eric Battenberg)

Details
Note: Due to popular demand, we will hold the Meetup at the Stanford Faculty Club, to accommodate 400 people
Summer is welcoming us with great news! We are thrilled to announce Baidu Research as part of our AI Meetup series!
We will start off with a Q&A with Andrew Ng, Chief Scientist at Baidu and one of the founding fathers of modern AI research.
After that, we will follow with presentations from two researchers from Baidu's Silicon Valley AI Lab – Bryan Catanzaro and Eric Battenberg.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Agenda
6:00pm - Check-in/networking/refreshments
6:30pm - Discussion with Andrew Ng, led by Emil Mikhailov & Alex Skidanov, Meetup Organizers
7:00pm - Bryan Catanzaro on HPC and Deep Learning
7:20pm - Eric Battenberg on Baidu's Deep Speech 2

About Dr. Bryan Catanzaro
Dr. Bryan Catanzaro is a research scientist at Baidu's Silicon Valley AI Lab, where he leads the systems team. His research is focused on efficient tools and methodologies for scaling the training of large deep neural networks. Before joining Baidu, Bryan worked at NVIDIA Research, where he initiated the CUDNN library and participated in a project that trained extreme scale neural networks using commercial, off the shelf HPC technology. Bryan received his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley, where he created Copperhead, a Python-based DSL for parallel programming.

About Dr. Eric Battenberg
Dr. Eric Battenberg is a research scientist at Baidu's Silicon Valley AI Lab. Previously, he worked on audio content analysis applications at Gracenote. Before that, he received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, where he did research on the application of signal processing and machine learning techniques to music and audio analysis and processing. His research interests include machine perception, music information retrieval, deep learning/neural networks, audio signal processing, and parallel/scalable machine learning.
