Join Surfrider for "The Dirtiest Beach Day" Cleanup!
Every year, July 5th earns its infamous title as "The Dirtiest Beach Day" across America. After the fireworks fade and the Independence Day celebrations wind down, our beloved coastlines are often left a disheartening mess of single-use plastics, fireworks debris, food wrappers, and more. This isn't just an eyesore; it's a direct threat to marine life, public health, and the very beaches we cherish.
But here's where you come in! For over two decades, Surfrider volunteers have risen to the occasion, cleaning up this post-holiday devastation. This July 5th, the Surfrider Monterey, invites you to be part of the solution.
Let's come together to restore our beautiful Monterey State Beach to its pristine state. Your efforts will go beyond simply picking up trash, the data we collect on the types of litter found helps Surfrider advocate for stronger policies to prevent pollution at its source.
All are welcome, and we'll provide necessary cleanup supplies like gloves, bags, and pickers. And we encourage you to bring your own gloves.
