Hike through picturesque woodlands & the delightful Newlands Corner
Traverse Merrow & Pewley Downs
Pass the impressive grounds of Guildford castle
Join us to explore picturesque Guildford countryside. The hike will feature several ascents and undulating terrain. We'll make our way to the banks of the River Wey, pass one of the "Alice in Wonderland Sculptures" (Lewis Carroll used to stay in Guildford).
We then join a rising path and head towards The Church of St Martha (from the top of the hill on a clear day you can see 6 counties). Then follow a route through woodland back to Guildford with a short visit to Guildford castle

This is a CIRCULAR hike
Walk pace: Brisk
Distance: Approx 10 miles (16 km)
Terrain: A 30 -40 minute uphill hike to the top of St Martha's, otherwise flat
Hike starts at 10.45am
Hike finish time could be earlier (depends on speed of group)
Train: The train from London Waterloo is a good one to catch www.trainline.com check train times the day before as they can change
Parking: there is parking available at the station and at Farnham Road car Park (5 min walk to the station). Free parking around the station is difficult to find.
